THJ POLICIES

RULES FOR EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

Normally we have very few behavior issues to deal with. Because most folks come to the THJ sessions to practice, to learn, and to socialize quietly. But we thought it might be wise to spell out what we need from you to keep things working so smoothly:

RULE #1:No flames, no blades, nothing that would likely hurt you or anyone else.

RULE #2: No horseplay or running around. No practical jokes.

RULE #3: Respect the "personal space" of all the jugglers around you. Especially, don't walk anywhere close to a club passing pattern. You're responsible for your own well being.

RULE 4: We have been asked by the Borough of West Chester (who helps support our group) to maintain a "Waiver of Liability" for each and every participant. This form states that you recognize that there are inherent risks in juggling as a group activity, and that you take responsibility for your own actions and will not sue the Borough, the School, or other members of the Turks Head Jugglers.

KIDS

Having kids participate in our program is -- almost always -- a wonderful thing and an essential part of our charter. (Which we never wrote down, by the way. The charter, that is. But if we did, we'd say nice things about having kids participate.) We've had dozens of kids come through the program and it has been -- with very few exceptions -- a extremely positive experience for the kids and the rest of the club.

But we need to remind parents that, whether you are at the gym or not, you are completely responsible for the actions of your child. And we have a special Waiver that we will ask you to sign when you bring your kid(s).

We don't place an age restriction on kids because we've found that some 10-year-olds handle themselves with maturity during the sessions, while some 16-year-olds find it necessary to misbehave. We need your help as a parent to determine what kind of supervision your child will need. If your kid needs to be monitored and calmed down, we expect you to be in the gym and provide that monitoring. In short, child care is not provided at any THJ session!
